A rare copy of the Universal Declaration

Encontré este borrador de la Declaración Universal. Es el penúltimo borrador sobre el que Charles Malik (Líbano) tuvo cuidado de (i) anotar las correcciones que sobre ese texto hicieran durante la elaboración del último borrador (ii) los votos que generó -a favor, en contra, abstenciones- y (iii) pedir a sus colegas que la firmaran. 

En sí mismo, no tiene valor jurídico alguno; pues el texto que vemos después fue aprobación por el pleno de la Asamblea General el 10 de diciembre. Pero no podemos dejar de agradecer a Charles Malik (Líbano) el cuidado que tuvo en pedir a sus colegas que firmaran su copia. Ahí están las firmas de los redactores nucleares: Eleanor Roosevelt, P.C. Chang, René Cassin, John Humphrey, Hernán Santa Cruz, y el resto de sus colegas de la Tercera Comisión de la Asamblea General.

Hasta donde sé, es la única Declaración con estas características. ¿Ya viste la firma del mexicano?

I found this draft of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.  It is the penultimate draft, on which Charles Malik (Lebanese) took care to (i) annotate the corrections which were done on it during the preparation of the last draft, (ii) annotate the votes on every single article – in favor, against, or abstain – and (iii) ask his colleagues to sign. In itself, it has no juridical value; the text which we see afterwards was approved in the plenary session of the Assembly General on December 10.  But we cannot stop being grateful to Charles Malik (Lebanese) for the care he took in asking his colleagues to sign his copy.  On it are the signatures of the nuclear drafters: Eleanor Roosevelt, PC Chang, Rene Cassin, John Humphrey, Hernan Santa Cruz, Pavlov, and the rest of their colleagues in the Third Commission of the Assembly General.  I found this «Universal Declaration of Human Rights signed by its drafters» at Charles MAlik's Papers, Library of the Congress, Manuscript Division, Box 78, Folder, 8. Here, you can download a pdf version
